Challenge
Bharatselo sells handcrafted brass, copper and aluminium puja items, idols, kitchenware and gifts. Dcrayon built its WooCommerce store to carry a catalogue of nearly 4,000 products.
Nearly 4,000 brass and puja products to sort
Bharatselo's range covers diyas, puja thalis, bells, temples, brass and aluminium idols, brass and steel kitchenware and EPNS (electroplated nickel silver) handicrafts. Its buyers range from families furnishing a home temple to companies ordering Diwali gifts in bulk. On 13 Oct 2026 the store held 3,947 products in 125 categories.
More than a hundred categories, several levels deep
Someone looking for a brass Ganga aarti diya needs to reach that shelf from the homepage without scrolling past bowls, ashtrays and chess boards. The category tree runs from Puja Item to Diya Deepak to Hand Aarti Diya, and every level has to stay usable on a phone.
Sign-in that works with a phone number
An email-and-password account adds a step before every repeat order. For a shopper on a phone, a one-time code sent to their number is quicker than recovering a forgotten password.
Retail, gifting and wholesale buyers on one site
The same store serves single-item orders, corporate Diwali gifting, customised gifts such as name plates and clocks, and wholesale enquiries. Each group needs its own route into the site.
Solution
WooCommerce and a mega menu for 125 categories
The store runs on WordPress with WooCommerce, using the Astra theme and the Elementor page builder. Products, categories and stock live in the WordPress admin, so the team can add listings without a developer. This is our WooCommerce development service.
The header carries a mega menu, a large drop-down that shows a whole branch of categories at once. Puja Item opens into diyas, thalis, lota and kalash, bells, temples and hawan kunds. Brass Idol and Murti lists each deity separately, and Kitchenware, Metal Handicraft Items, Aluminium Idol, Copper Items and the two gifting ranges each have their own branch. The footer links the festival and pure-copper collections, so a shopper at the bottom of any page still has a way back into the range.
Phone-number login, Razorpay and trade routes
Customers sign in or register with a phone number and a one-time password, or with email if they prefer, through the Digits login plugin. Online payments run through Razorpay, and cash on delivery is offered and promoted in the footer. A WhatsApp link gives shoppers a direct line to the team, and separate Wholesale and Become a Partner pages serve trade buyers. Our WordPress development work covers this plugin set-up.
Caching and product markup
WP Rocket, a caching plugin, loads images, iframes and CSS backgrounds only when they scroll into view, defers and delays JavaScript, minifies CSS and JavaScript and hosts fonts on the site itself. Rank Math, an SEO plugin, adds Product, Offer and breadcrumb structured data to product pages.

Key takeaways
Why naming beats design on a large handicraft catalogue
Large handicraft catalogues are rarely limited by the platform. They are limited by how the range is named and grouped. A clear category tree, a menu that shows a whole branch at once and product names that say what the item is matter more than any single design choice, and as listings are added, near-identical products are worth merging regularly.
For running a WordPress store of this size, read our WordPress development best practices and why a WordPress site may not show in Google search. A smaller puja and brass range on Shopify is described in the Anyage case study.
